Large buyers such as International Airlines and Hotel Chains, SATS, Fairprice, Sheng Siong, and others are requiring suppliers disclose their ESG performance. European buyers are required by law to declare ESG health of their suppliers (including Asian suppliers). On 6 July 2023, the Singapore Sustainability Reporting Advisory Committee has (“SRAC”) announced sustainability reporting for non -listed entities. Major banks in Singapore and globally have started reviewing loan facilities based on ESG health of borrowers.
In response to the above, Singapore Food Association Alliance (“SFAA”) shall be announcing a
slew of major initiatives in collaboration with various partners to better prepare SMEs from the
Food Manufacturing sector to embark on ESG starting with measuring carbon footprint of operations and ESG Reporting.

- The Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (“ACRA”) and Singapore Exchange Regulation (“SGX Regco”) have set up a Sustainability Reporting Advisory Committee (SRAC) to advise on a sustainability reporting roadmap for Singapore-incorporated companies, beyond SGX-listed companies; and to provide inputs on the suitability of international sustainability reporting standards for implementation in Singapore. Global Sustainability Nexus (“GSN”) has been established by Oriel Group of Companies and industry veterans with decades of sustainable smart cities and global sustainability supply chain relationships with multi-national corporations (MNCs) particularly in fast-moving consumer goods, hospitality & hotel, aviation & aerospace, logistics & transportation, engineering & construction, banking and finance sectors.
Global Sustainability Nexus (“GSN”) and the Chairman of SFAA had engaged over the past year, exploring on a series of sustainability-related initiatives to adopt a more holistic approach to measure and track ESG-related impact on our local food SMEs, as well as getting them onboard to sustainable and responsible sourcing supply chains of major Singapore and international buyers. To kickstart our efforts, GSN and SG tech have jointly developed a CCP programme with an implementation focus on ESG reporting using technology. Moving forward, SFAA consisting of the various food related associations aims to explore developing a unique sustainability framework catered for the food sector.
