The Tasty Singapore Tmall Global Flagship Store was officially launched on 27 April 2016 in Hangzhou
by Senior Minister of State of Finance Sim Ann.
Our local food manufacturers faces several challenges when trying to enter the China market. These challenges includes difficulty in meeting regulatory requirements, high costs of marketing and promotion and difficulty in distributing through large supermarkets in China.
The aim of this online store is to help our local food manufacturers to break into the China market thur the e-commerce market in China, which have a low barrier of entry and is more cost effective.
Companies who wish to set up an online shop on TMall on themselves will typically need to spend up to SGD$300,000 to do so. However if companies join Tasty Singapore Tmall Global Flagship Store, they will be able to list their products at a fraction of the cost. Instead of the S$300,000 if they setup an online shop themselves, they pay a monthly fee of SGD$300 to SFMA, plus sales commission.
