Building Up to Post Covid-19 Marketplace - Fundamentals For Preparing To Export or Targeting a New Market

Date: 01 Feb 2021

Time: 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Venue: Webinar

Synopsis

Everyone has witnessed the impact Covid-19 has brought about to our lives, livelihoods as well as businesses last year. Big to small businesses who couldn’t weather the storm had to downsize, cut international and regional presence or suffer a total close-down. Logistics and human traffic were heavily disrupted, resulting in a delay in flow of goods and food supply chains were also affected. This will actually result in great repercussions for our businesses in the months to come and to be able to tide through this, it is critical that we diversify business models and strategies in order to stay resilient. Our domestic market is highly unsustainable for our businesses and we need to encourage more of our food manufacturers to grow their global footprint in order to continue to stay relevant in this current situation. Hence, together with our newly appointed International Trade Specialist (supported by Enterprise Singapore), Mr Gerald Tan, we would like to put together a sharing session to help our companies refocus for FY 2021.

This first webinar series will take place on 1st February 2021 (Monday) 2pm. This session will also be interactive (2-way engagement).

Speakers

Mr. Ham Weng Seng – the CEO of Chop Tai Chong Kok Pte Ltd (大中国) hailed as the 3rd generation of this family run business which started in 1935. With a tradition of more than 86 years, they are one of the very few bakeries left in Singapore that still produce freshly made traditional Cantonese pastries and mooncakes from scratch and by hand daily. Mr. Ham has taken over the business for more than 10 years and have grown it over 6 folds with shops sprung throughout Singapore in places such as Chinatown; Kampung Ubi; Northpoint City; Tampines Mall; Hougang Mall; Westgate and others.

Though running a substantial family business can be both hectic and time-consuming, Mr. Ham still takes time to enjoy good music and is also a gym enthusiast who works out almost everyday to keep himself fit and healthy. He is the truly new breed of 3rd generation businessmen and leaders that Singapore needs to propel itself to the world stage.
