The Singapore Food Manufacturers' Association (SFMA) is a professional and active trade association formed in 1967 by a small group of like-minded local food manufacturers with the purpose of developing and promoting the local food manufacturing industry. Members comprise small family concerns, small-and-medium enterprises, public listed companies, traders and various supplier companies related to food industry.
With over 300 members, SFMA has evolved into the apex body for the food manufacturing industry of Singapore and is well-recognized and endorsed by Singapore governing bodies like International Enterprise Singapore (IE) and SPRING Singapore.
Activities organised by SFMA includes exhibitions, seminars, conferences, workshops, trade mission, networking & business matching sessions.
For Singapore to become the food trade hub of ASEAN and the food industry to remain as one of the key supporting pillars driving the growth of the Singapore economy, including helping local food manufacturers to grow and strengthen their market positions by facilitating and promoting exports, productivity and innovation.
Jointly administered by SPRING Singapore and IE Singapore, the Local Enterprise and Association Development (LEAD) programme is an industry development initiative aimed at improving industry competence and internationalisation. It achieves this through partnerships with trade associations and chambers (TACs) which are willing to take the lead in industry development and drive initiatives to improve the overall capabilities of local enterprises in their industries and capture opportunities overseas.
SFMA has committed to the LEAD programme as it is seen as a stepping stone for the association to assist local food manufacturers to grow.

The Export Club is set up with the aim of assisting the local food manufacturers to expand through penetrating into new markets and solidify the existing ones. Over the years, Export Club has been actively leading Singapore Pavilion to participate in International tradeshows. Mission trips are also organised to search for new and emerging markets.
Apart from actively participating in trade exhibitions, Export Club also work with internationally recognised hyper mart and supermarket to promote Singapore food products through road shows. Furthermore, efforts have been put into conducting surveys with overseas consumer to understand the preference of the overseas market. Results collected enable manufacturers to adjust and change formulas to suit the overseas market.
In 2000, the first Singapore Food Expo (SFE) was organised and held at Singapore Expo. The objective was to promote local brands at home, in a difficult economic period then. The success of the Expo went beyond our expectations. As such, the event has become a yearly calendar event widely anticipated by consumers and visitors alike. Till today, Singapore Food Expo remains as one of the best visited consumer show in Singapore, with visitorship of more than half a million.
Pride as the dedicated food event created by the industry for the industry, Asia Pacific Food Expo has attracted international pavilion from the likes of Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and more. APFE aims to bring the best food form the Asian region into Singapore. The show has generated a consumer with a visitorship of more than half a million.
Other than helping the growth of local food manufacturers , SFMA also assist in the nurturing of future leaders for the food manufacturers industry.
SFMA offer the "SFMA - Pek Cheng Chuan Scholarship" every year to students with good results who are pursuing food related programmes at Singapore Polytechnic.
